Allen Iverson

Iverson has been using his blog primarily to promote his new team, the Memphis Grizzlies. He even announced that he was going to sign with the Grizzlies before the team even made the announcement. This usually doesn’t happen, and I don’t think it’s a good idea because a lot of deals fall through during the contract talks. He’s been promoting the Grizzlies by ticket giveaways to the team’s home games. This seems like a good idea, because he’s promoting himself through the team. He’s also opened new stores and signed shoe deals, so he’s been using Twitter to promote these as well.
He talks a lot about charity work that he does. I understand that he’s trying to change an image of himself, because he hasn’t been seen in the best of light through his career. However, after awhile it almost comes off as a pat on the back. He doesn’t really tell much about his day-to-day activities, leaning more toward stories. Another smart thing he does is post links to websites where you can see, and buy his new products. It seems like he's walking a fine line with the blog coming off as priomotional, but he's trying to make it sound personal.
