Tyra Banks

As much as people look up to celebrities for the lifestyles they live, the fancy cars they drive and all of their ups and downs shown publicly, at the end of the day they are still human. Tyra Banks uses her Twitter almost everyday. She tweets about breakfast, hair, upcoming events and this allows you to see the human Tyra Banks and not the very successful former supermodel/tv host/actress that we constantly see on television. Twitter allows her fans to see the real her, not the dolled up one we see dressed fancy around her fellow celebrities. This twitter allows her fans to see her in an aspect we've never seen in person and may never. This is Tyra in the morning making breakfast, this is Tyra talking about the things young girls dwell on and become stressed about such as hair weave, this is Tyra at night tired from a long day. Twitter allows Tyra to become more relatable to her fans of all ages. In some aspect of Tyra's tweets, they are real enough to the point the average young woman working everyday, cooking breakfast and trying to figure out what to do with her hair can read and enjoy. Recently she tweeted about buying a new coat and jokes about it being bright yellow and looking like big bird, not every celebrity makes fun of themself. I do it all the time so I'm impressed by that. Tyra Banks uses this to show everyone how real she is, down to earth and not this self absorbed person without a sense of humor. There isnt much promotion going on for herself, she rarely talks about the events she will be attending nor her upcoming plans. She mentions America's next top model occassionally but for the most part her twitter is about her personal life and the things she feels during the day. I love it and I love her!!!

JImmy Fallon

Jimmy Fallon uses his Twitter account primarily to promote his Late Show on NBC. He tweets nearly every day about what it coming up on that night’s show, linking his tweets to the twitter accounts of guests on the show. He also sometimes posts links to episodes or video clips from previous shows in his tweets.

In addition to using his Twitter to advance his NBC talk show, Fallon tweets about other shows he does. For instance, he was recently at Northeastern University to do a show, and tweeted about how much he loves Boston and how great the students and faculty at the school were.

Occasionally, Fallon tweets about other things, like seeing a 3D movie, but this is not as prevalent as tweets about shows. Fallon is very good about responding to tweets of other people he follows, however. He often comments about tweets of other Twitter members or responds to their tweets posting questions, comments or videos.Jimmy Fallon has 2,176,719 followers and follows 153 people.

Trey Songz

Editor's Note: I'm posting this on behalf of Saysha, who had some technical difficulties with her account and our blog!

I’m following Trey Songz on twitter and all he has been doing is touring the country. I think his tour ends November 21. He came to IUP on October 10 for our home coming concert and it was the greatest! A lot of people were upset because we were waiting for two hours before he showed up; people even left the concert. I didn’t. I’m a fan! Then people were tweeting him all upset about him not coming on time. It wasn’t his fault. The people who hosted the concert are to blame because his contract said he was scheduled to perform at 10P.M. He even tweeted to the “students of IUP” saying to please stop tweeting him ignorant messages because he isn’t the one to blame and for us to take it up with our school. Overall, the concert was good and he looked great.

Jay-Z Via Twitter

Hip-Hop World Icon, Jay-Z, utilizes his Twitter for marketing and advertising purposes. The posts are professionally written, I'm assuming not by Jay-Z himself. However, they are updates on his recent album, The Blueprint 3, with updates on his tour and his career. I have yet to see anything posted regarding his personal life, i.e. with Beyonce or any vacations or the like. His Twitter is professional well-kempt, and updated at least every few days as well as multiple posts in one day. Many of them have links to his album website or other media outlets to summarize updates in his career. It is safe to say that Jay-Z's Twitter is actually used to professional purposes, rather than an placeto send "shout outs" to others or as an "appropriate" outlet to quit his job.

Tyra is a human being....

When looking at Tyra Banks twitter page, you can see that she does normal eyeryday things just like the rest of us. She watches movies, makes breakfast and hangs out on the weekends. Her twitter makes her look down to earth and personable. She says what she loves and what she is doing and does not complain or try to make others look bad. This really is a plus for Trya being able to show her fans that she is just like them. Tyra seems like a sweetheart!

John Mayer

John Mayer uses his twitter account was not what I first expected. He does not talk about his career barely at all in his twitter account, but usually just posts quotes or thing he heard that day that were funny. He also used his twitter account to fight rumors. He titled it Rumor Check. It was over a rumor that he was at a gay bar and possibly kissed another man. He stated "yes, I went to gay bar in Palm Springs, yes. Had a blast. Danced my face off. Someone there planted a kiss on me? No."
John Mayer also uses his twitter account to clue in his fans to what he is doing with his career. He talks about his tour, and how he is going to be gone for two years. He also brings up something about Alicia Keys and how performing with her was very thrilling. His fans will like to see that John Mayer is praising other celebrities, and will get curious to what exactly he is doing with Alicia Keys... a collaboration maybe?

Hines Ward

I've been following Hines Ward's Twitter account: HWmvp86. His Twitter is actually combined with his Facebook page so his posts are longer than the character limit. You can click on a link at the end of each Tweet to view the full text. Ward Tweets rather often, sometimes once a day, sometimes many times a day.

Ward Tweets mostly about games and the causes he works for. His most recent series of Tweets documents the time he spent with Korean children that are part of his foundation. He always expresses a lot of gratitude for being able to help people in need. He also makes comments about being happy about the results of games, and congratulates his teammates on a job well done.

I think Hines Ward's Twitter account most certainly helps his career and his image. He comes across as a very humble and genuine person.
